Find DeSoto County Court Calendar

Need a DeSoto County court date? Start with the case number or citation, then figure out which court holds the matter: Circuit, County, Chancery, Justice, or a city court. There is no single countywide calendar covering them all. Every setting depends on the court, the kind of hearing, and the latest instruction entered on that case. The DeSoto County court calendar routes below show how to confirm a setting, read its basic fields, and respond when a date changes or gets missed.

The DeSoto County Court Calendar

No one office posts a live calendar for every DeSoto County court. Circuit and County matters run through Mississippi Electronic Courts and the clerk's channels. Chancery, Justice, and the municipal courts sit in separate offices or on city pages. A recurring session, a sign in the courthouse hallway, and a line on a DeSoto case docket each answer a different question. So the most useful calendar is the one tied to your actual case number or citation.

The DeSoto Circuit Court belongs to the 23rd Circuit Court District. Its civil scheduling contacts can point a verified matter to the right office. But a real setting still comes from the docket or an order. City courts publish recurring sessions rather than a combined county list. Whatever result you get, note the court name. Note the date you checked, and where it came from.

DeSoto Court Calendar Routes Differ

A DeSoto County calendar search starts by splitting state, city, and federal courts apart. DeSoto Circuit and County civil and criminal cases moved onto MEC in 2021. A Chancery matter may take a call to the clerk or chambers. Justice Court posts no consolidated public calendar. And a DeSoto municipal ticket belongs with the city that issued it. It does not belong on any generic county calendar.

The Mississippi Judicial Directory and Court Calendar lays out the statewide court framework. It will not tell you a live setting for a DeSoto case.

Use a statewide directory to find court contacts. Then get the current DeSoto setting from the responsible clerk, docket, or city court.

How to Find Your Court Date

Before you call, gather the court name. Bring the case or citation number, the exact party spelling, and a rough filing date. The official DeSoto route shifts with the court. Remote MEC access takes registration. A city citation portal may show payment details but not the next setting. A DeSoto clerk can confirm what that office keeps on file. But no clerk can interpret a court order for a party.

  1. Read the citation, notice, or earlier docket entry to identify the DeSoto court and case number.
  2. For DeSoto Circuit or County cases, check authenticated MEC or call the Circuit Clerk at 662-469-8007; use the first-floor Public Inquiry computers if remote access does not show the needed entry.
  3. For DeSoto Chancery, Justice, or a city matter, contact that clerk or city court and ask for the current case-specific setting rather than a recurring schedule.
  4. Check the official DeSoto court posting or docket again near the date, and ask counsel for any party-specific notice or order.

Note: A DeSoto calendar pulled on one day can be overtaken by a later order, reset, or clerk instruction before the hearing happens.

DeSoto Court Calendar Scheduling

For 23rd Circuit civil hearing or trial scheduling, DeSoto County materials list two names. Suzanne Lowrie serves Judge Gerald Chatham. Amy Young serves Judge Celeste Embrey Wilson. Those contacts route a DeSoto Circuit civil question to the correct desk. They do not replace a filed setting notice, an order, or the court's current docket.

The split matters when someone asks a general question about an open date versus a pending case with a set hearing. Give the DeSoto administrator the case number and judge when you can. For filing status or an official record, the DeSoto Circuit Clerk keeps the file.

Reading a Court Setting

A DeSoto court setting is a scheduled event. It is not a promise the case ends that day. Read the court, the event type, the date, and the time as one picture. A DeSoto docket call can sweep in many cases. An individual hearing gets a particular courtroom or judge. If an entry confuses you, ask the responsible DeSoto clerk. Ask them to confirm the event label and the current status.

DateThe calendar date for the current DeSoto setting. Confirm it against the newest docket entry or clerk notice.
TimeThe stated DeSoto court start time, which can be a docket-call time rather than an individual hearing time.
CourtroomThe listed DeSoto room, courthouse, City Hall, or other location. A recurring city session does not identify every case.
JudgeThe presiding judge or DeSoto court division, if the calendar or docket identifies one.
Setting typeA DeSoto label such as arraignment, pretrial, show cause, probable cause, hearing, trial, or payment-plan review.

DeSoto Court Setting Labels

Mississippi Rule of Civil Procedure 79 defines a general docket. It is a dated chronology of filings, orders, verdicts, and judgments. A calendar is narrower than that. A minute entry may record an order, and a setting can move while a printed schedule stays still. In DeSoto County, always read the docket's latest date. Read the event label too, before treating a calendar line as final.

Setting
A scheduled court event, which may be a hearing, docket call, or review rather than trial.
Continuance
A delay of a scheduled event, generally reflected by a later order or revised setting.
Reset
A replacement date for an earlier setting; it does not dismiss the case.
Minute entry
A clerk record of an order or action, distinct from the full paper file.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

A DeSoto reset or continuance changes the whole answer to a date search. The older notice may still be floating around. But the later order, clerk instruction, or new docket entry controls. Do not assume a case was dismissed just because a date vanished from a recurring calendar. Or because a payment portal stopped showing it.

For a DeSoto Circuit or County case, check MEC if your account reaches the entry. Use the clerk or the Public Inquiry room when a document is not available remotely. For city, Justice, and Chancery matters, call the court that owns the file. A particular DeSoto court can tell you whether it has a new date. It can also confirm a cancellation, or an instruction to appear.

Southaven DeSoto Court Calendar

Southaven Municipal Court sorts its recurring DeSoto city sessions by event type. Mondays bring show cause or community service at 2 p.m. Prisoner initial matters follow at 3 p.m. Wednesdays cover initial criminal and VOP matters at 9 a.m. Probable cause comes at 2 p.m. Fridays start with initial or continued traffic, criminal, and fines at 9 a.m. Then prisoner initial matters follow at 10 a.m. The first Friday adds payment-plan fines at 9 a.m.

These times suggest which session probably applies. They do not set your DeSoto case. Holidays, event type, clerk instructions, and schedule changes can all shift a particular matter. So confirm directly with the court. The city calendar also lists other prisoner, trial, plea, and attorney-report sessions.

Horn Lake DeSoto Court Calendar

Horn Lake Municipal Court meets at City Hall each Tuesday at 10 a.m. and Thursday at 9 a.m., per the official Horn Lake Court page. That is a solid routing fact for a Horn Lake municipal case. It does not prove a given citation lands in either session.

When the situation is unclear, call the Court Office at 662-342-3541 with the citation number, your name, and the approximate date. Say whether you need a payment, a court date, a warrant-related status, or a file. Answers should come from the court file itself, not from a broad DeSoto County schedule.

Hernando DeSoto Court Calendar

Unsure of a court time in Hernando? Call 662-449-3152. The office generally skips Wednesday calls except while court is in session. Phoning before Wednesday helps. It can spare you a stale DeSoto municipal schedule or a citation page with no current setting.

Remember that Hernando's court is separate from the DeSoto County courthouse. Hernando serves as the county seat, but its city court runs on its own calendar. A Hernando citation starts in the DeSoto city court. For a Circuit, County, Chancery, or Justice setting, confirm through that court's own DeSoto clerk.

DeSoto Justice Court Dates

DeSoto Justice Court covers county traffic outside city limits involving the Sheriff or Mississippi Highway Patrol, along with its limited-jurisdiction matters. The court posts no consolidated public calendar. For an active DeSoto Justice file, call the Justice Clerk at 662-469-8026 rather than treating a disposed-records portal as a setting calendar.

Chancery matters run through separate chambers and administrators. A DeSoto divorce, estate, title, or guardianship case starts with the Chancery Clerk or the identified chambers; the Chancery Court Records line is 662-469-8398. Either way, confirm case by case.

DeSoto Federal Court Calendar

A DeSoto federal case sits in the Oxford Division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. It is not in state MEC. The official federal calendar shows location, date and time, judge, case number and title, and purpose. It is a separate system with its own docket and access rules. The federal court's district map explains why Oxford, not Hernando, hosts the federal calendar for DeSoto matters.

Think of the district map as a tool for figuring out where a case belongs. It does not set court dates. For DeSoto County federal matters, the Oxford federal courthouse page shows the division location that handles them.

Courthouse information never replaces the current CM/ECF setting for a particular case. The official Oxford CM/ECF calendar is the federal calendar channel.

Its case-specific fields show why a calendar result must be read with the court and case number. A federal realignment notice also reminds us that court locations and procedures can change independently of DeSoto state-court calendars.

Old notices can mislead, so verify the division and setting on the current federal docket first.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Act promptly. First, identify the DeSoto court and call its clerk, or contact counsel, to get the current docket status and the right fix for the missed setting. Never assume payment clears every event. DeSoto city procedures separate ordinary eligible citations from show-cause, probation, contempt, or other matters requiring clerk or court action.

Missed a setting? A missed DeSoto court date can lead to a failure-to-appear process, a reset, or a warrant-related consequence depending on the court and case.

Ask the responsible DeSoto clerk whether a new setting, appearance, order, or attorney action is required, and obtain the current date directly from that court.

Southaven's published procedure sets a new date at least 21 days later for an initial failure to appear. A second failure can bring a bench warrant. That rule belongs to the city, not all of DeSoto County, so verify the issuing court's current process.
